Giant’s Staircase Trail
Trail brings you along a good segment of the more jagged “Oceanside” of the island which gives unlimited dramatic scale crawling with beautiful backdrop. Parking is best along the road closer to the inn at the south entrance. This will put you on trail immediately but you hike a little further because IMHO, the good crawling is in the middle and north end of the trail. But this way you will see the Giant’s Staircase on the way. (It’s long since crumbled from erosion but if you plan for high tide it’s can be a blow-hole!) VS parking at the north end is tight and you walk a ways down a pretty road before you hit the trail. So now you can pick your path!
As with all areas of our rugged coast, watch for poison ivy off the trails with the Rosa regosa.
Monument Hill Trail
Mix of conditions along this short but diverse and satisfying hike that peaks with stunning views north-west toward NH white mountains. Mud. Rocks. Etc. park along roadside.
