Shore Acres State Park

89526 Cape Arago Highway, Coos Bay Oregon 97420

Submitted by: Glenn Hamilton

Notes: Park in the first lot to the right, take the first trail there north, after a few hundred feet you will see a lunar landscape of crawling goodness. Pay the $5 parking fee and be polite to everyone, because park rangers are not required to let you operate your rig there, but they do if we are respectful. I have even setup 100+ gate courses without complaint. Enjoy!

Amazing light show for the holidays. In the dark this park is beautiful! After a $5 parking pass you can walk over 350,000 lights. The park has been doing this for us since 1987. During the evening there are cookies and coffee in the 2 story house. Make sure to please make a donation. Enjoy your time and have a merry Christmas.

One of our favorite places on the coast! Gorgeous gardens any time of year, but the holiday lights display is stunning between Thanksgiving and new year's. Worth buying a state park annual pass just to visit there a few times a year. Views of crashing waves and whale watching, botanical gardens and walking paths are all great things about this park. Love it here.

Love it we went to look at the Christmas light display. Only $5.00 to park. Was inexpensive to take the whole car load of us. The kids and adults enjoyed the visit.

Simply astonishing gardens and unbelievable waves can be seen from the cliff in the winter. A must see on the Oregon Coast and in the Bay Area. Catch them around Christmas and you can even see the best holiday lights in all of Oregon.

This is not a dog park, but rather a dog ranch because it's so big! It's incredible to just let a well behaved dog go be free. There are tons of crossing trails you could get turned around on easily. There is river access as well if your pooch enjoys a dip/swim. The only issue is parking. There is a parking area, but it fills up very early. You'll see people parking on the entrance road, but I recommend to avoid due to the pitch of the shoulder; roll-over territory.
