I loved the long drive up to Mount Lemmon and the great views into Tucson and the surrounding countryside. The hike itself is also a great escape from the heat and is worth the hour drive from Tucson!
caught the sunrise on the top of the mountain and stayed all day. picnicked on meadow trail with a group of friends. gorgeous trails! bathrooms were a bit rough, but that's typical of public composting toilets. the experience and views were well worth the $5 day use fee!
OMG. The views were breath taking. It makes a person feel little, almost insignificant. This is a small world and you can almost see end to end from up there.
Marshall Gulch. Catalina hwy, adventure adventure. Seek and you Shall find Peace, serenity and Calm. Drive carefully, watch for motorcycles and animals. Take at least 1 gallon of water per person. Sugar. Eat your food beforehand. Walk it off. Take only water and an emergency sugar items. I have a flare gun that I do have for for an emergency. Tell someone where you are. When you expect to be done trailing. Bring maybe a small sitting mat that you carry easily on your back, yoga mat? Anyway, go go go. Better to be at trailhead at 430am. Start the trail at first light. Be back by 10 am and you just started your day incredibly incredible! Take care, snakes, cougars, make noise. Sing!! Have a walking stick. Look up!!! If you Don't know if it's poisonous don't touch.leave what you find. Take your trash with you. Bees, cover your face. Don't flap at them. They do like living in the ground. So watch your step!!
LOVE THE DRIVE UP! It’s a different world up there! Huge pine trees and rivers and cabins and wildlife. Some good restaurants pizza and cookies! Great place to spend a weekend or a week. Usually at least 30° cooler than Tucson
